The painter from Jaén, José Quero, spent his childhood in Málaga, where he lived until the age of 14, when he moved with his family to Valencia. He studied Medicine, specializing in Ophthalmology. From 1968 onward, he began painting in a self-taught manner. His work features the human figure as its backdrop, with geometry and linear structures as the protagonists. Román de la Calle, his friend and great connoisseur of his work, relates it to his profession as an ophthalmologist, since this profession led him to take an interest in certain shapes and colors. A member of the Arte Actual group, he actively participated in the Valencian artistic scene, holding many exhibitions and gaining great recognition. With an enigmatic body of work highly recognizable within the geometry he so favored, his painting merged with a taste for collage, bearing the same mystery that unified all his work.
