Francesco Bartolozzi (Florence, September 21, 1727 – Lisbon, March 7, 1815) was an Italian engraver who carried out much of his work in London. He was renowned for popularizing the stipple engraving technique.
Giovan (Giovanni) Francesco Barbieri (Cento, February 8, 1591 – Bologna, December 9, 1666), better known by the nickname Guercino or Il Guercino, was an Italian Baroque painter. He was a representative of the transitional period from Roman-Bolognese Classicism to full Baroque. He suffered from strabismus, hence his nickname (Guercino is the diminutive of guercio, meaning “cross-eyed” in Italian).
